Easy to use and does everything it should!

I added my photo library and it said there are no duplicates, however I know there are duplicates.

Great app. Very effective to quickly go through your library and remove duplicates, or even just to compare similar sets of photos.

I dont usually write reviews, but I just had to for this app. I recently lost all my photos due to a harddrive crash. I managed to get them all back from a recovery program but it just grouped ALL my photos into one folder with MANY different versions/sizes of the same photo. This program turned what would have been very tedious, into a breeze. A+++

I do have 100k photos and more. Within all kind of software and location. That in mind is painful when its time to clean it all. I never do that prior to PhotoSweeper. I did have an issue but the fast service from Jon overthere was wonderful. That soft is fast and work very well. Jai plus de 100k photographie dans différentes applications et supports. Finding duplicate photos is not like finding duplicate files. The files may actually be different, but the photos be just resized, or very similar. And then theres deciding, which to keep, which to sweep. Whichever you need, all the tools are here, conveniently bound together, and neatly automated. Like the tagline in the manual says: "Do I really need 12 shots of that coffee table?". Well, you can keep them if you want to, and just get rid of the exact same shots. This is a tool Ive been looking for for long, and at a very fair price for the really polished software you get, unlike some other solutions out there. Great job, looking forward to whatever else you got in store.

The "power" expressed by the algorithms of this app is wonderful: not only this app helps you remove tons and tons of unwanted duplicates, but it does its job FAST!!! I must admit that thanks to applications like PhotoSweeper Macs are more and more better than Redmonds counterparts… ;)

I looked for many apps to help me deduplicate my collections in Photos. While I did not want to pay for an app, it seemed like the free apps were not trustworthy. I decided that PhotoSweeper was the best option and it successfully found all the duplicates I knew were there. In the end, I removed nearly 3 gigs of photo data. Worth it.

I felt pretty harsh giving PhotoSweeper one star, because it did help find thousands of duplicates, so I gave it two. It just didn’t find dozens others which I could see, myself, in the list before clicking Compare. To be sure, I took two of those and put them in the list all by themselves. PhotoSweeper couldn’t detect it. I got a refund from Apple, still searching for a thorough App.

PhotoSweeper I bought PhotoSweeper (version 2.2.2 (2022)) because I have thousands of duplicate photos caused by various imports over the past 15 years of taking digital pictures. I use Adobe Lightroom (version 5 as I don’t like the cloud features in version 6). I prefer the Lightroom method for storing files directly in the file system and not in an application specific container. I was just looking for a program that can identify duplicate photos with different files name (caused by different imports). In order to ensure PhotoSweeper worked as expected, I copied a folder of about 300 photos to my desktop. I dragged the folder into the PhotoSweeper window then selected compare. The application clearly showed which were duplicates and easily allowed me to visually confirm they *were* duplicates before I “marked” them and then “Trash Marked”. I like that this application puts the photos into the trash so you could pull them out if you feel you made a mistake. When I tried to find duplicates in a folder with 87 subfolders containing 4799 photos totaling 3.5 GB it was unable to render all of the photos. Note I selected “Duplicate Files” and Face-to-Face display but PhotoSweeper was unable to render all the photos so I was not able to visually confirm it did find duplicates. In an attempt to correct this I restarted the application and tried again. I got half 1/3 of the way thru this group of files but then the application would not render the images. From that point I reduced the number of photos I gave it to compare to about 1,000 or 2,000 and it worked without issue. I highly recommend this application for anyone who wants to accomplish the type of deduping above. This application has other uses but I have not tried them. Happy duplicate hunting.

Ok so it said I had 9,000+ photos in Iphoto and to go in and empty my trash. I went into iPhoto and nothing in the trash. Now Photos said 48 duplicates in a folder it made - and I saw those. I just wonder if those others actually got deleted?

This app looked like it was functioning, some were accessed and deleted by me, but lo and behold there are still duplicates. Can’t recommend this app.

PHOTOSWEEPER is the best Duplicate removing app I have ever used. I have downloaded and purchased at least half a dozen others, probably more. Each app leaves you with the feeling you are not sure what is being deleted and what isn’t. This app is very intuitive, and visually shows you exactly what will be deleted and the rules for doing so are easily adjustable, putting you in the driver’s seat. Out of a Lightroom catalog of more than 80,000 photos, I successefully deleted up to 20,000 duplicates, which were driving me crazy with no good way to delete them. This app is the best…!

Do to my great wisdom, when I first started using a digital camera, I would start the photo number to 001, when the numbers got large. Now, I have to check the photos because the numbers can be the same, but the photos different :(. I thought this was an awesome product, but since the update, it is much easier for me. I can just glance up at all the info for both photo’s, instead of having to constantly look back and forth at each photo for size difference, etc. Right now I am trying to work with 18,000 photos. This is going to shorten my time. Thank you. This app is so easy to use, and easy on the eyes when working with alot of photos. By the way, I learned my lesson, and leave the numbers alone :).

I don’t use this app very often, but when I need it, it does the work of filtering out duplicates fast and efficiently. I tend to shoot using a “continuous” shutter release setting resulting in lots of subtly different pictures. PhotoSweeper helps me compare and discard the images I don’t want in a fraction of the time that it would take me in other applications. PhotoSweeper also helped me locate and discard thousands of iPhoto’s annoying duplicate low rez images that inflated my Apple Photos library after migrating. Thank you for a well-designed and intelligent solution to this perennial problem!

I wish I understood HOW this application did the comparisons. But it works, so so well! I love the adjustments you can make - it’ll find all the photos in a series and I can remove the blurry ones. Great for me right now - lots of shots of my baby but often only one of three is in focus. This app is fantastic - I am so, so pleased with it!!! And it’s amazingly fast. I have a mid-2009 MBP and I’m shocked by how quickly it does the comparisons. [Updated Review July 2016] Outstanding, outstanding app. I’ve recently found the “time series” function is much more useful than I expected it would be - it lets me quickly group photos from a shoot or scene together. This is one of the most useful apps I have. I highly, highly recommend it.

The program does what is says, flawlessly. Interface is great. It just works.
